Book: Christopher Hitchens – God is Not Great

An excellent book full of points very well made. The audiobook is narrated by the author, which to me was both a blessing and a curse. A blessing, because obviously nobody could narrate it better than the author himself. A curse, because…

…I happen to have a hard time with british accent. (Luckily Hitchens has lived in the USA for long enough to have his accent somewhat smoothened.) One interesting thing I learned about Hitchens from this book is that he was once a member of the Greek Orthodox Church to please his parents in law from his first marriage. Geez, wtf is the deal with greek parents!

Quote from the book:

There are four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum of servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking.
